Bath Abbey |

The Abbey has stood dominant for five centuries at its centre. The site has been in continuous use for Christian worship since 676.In 1088, John de Villula was appointed Bishop of Bath and created a new cathedral so immense that the present Abbey stands within its nave. A fire 1137 damaged the structure which was then left to decay. |
| Sono cinque secoli che l'abbazia si erge al centro di Bath. Il posto in cui si trova è stato usato come luogo di culto cristiano dal 676 d.c. Nel 1088 John de Villula fu nominato vescovo di Bath e creò una nuova cattedrale così immensa che l'attuale abbazia è situata all'interno della sua navata centrale. Un incendio nel 1137 danneggiò la struttura che da allora fu lasciata decadere. |
