Though not the largest of English cathedrals, Salisbury is among the bigger, the total length of the interior being 449 feet, the breadth of the nave and aisles 78, the height of the nave 85 feet, and its length about 230 feet.The facade is essentially a decorated screen. There are not towers. The most perfect part of the whole cathedral is the spire.This famous landmark was built between 1285 and 1310 .It was the work of an unknown master mason and it was a truly stupendous achievement.The earlier builders had left the tower very squat, rising only a few feet above the level of the nave.
	Sebbene non sia la più grande delle cattedrali inglesi , Salisburgo è tra le più ampie, infatti la lunghezza totale dell'interno è di 449 piedi cioè 1347m. La larghezza della navata centrale e di quelle laterali è di 78 piedi, cioè 234m e l' altezza della navata è di 85 piedi ( 255m) e la sua lunghezza è di 230 piedi (690m) . La facciata è molto decorata. Non ci sono torri.Di tutta la cattedrale la parte che si avvicina alla perzione di stile gotico è la guglia. Questo famoso punto di riferimento fu costuito tra il 1285 e il 1310. Fu il lavoro di uno sconosciuto mastro muratore e il risultato è veramente stupendo. I primi costruttori avevano lasciato la torre molto tozza ,che si argeva solo pochi piedi sul livello del tetto della navata.
