The chapter house after the cathedral itself, is the most ambitious building in the cathedral complex. As the place where all important business is transacted, normally it is both grand and practical. The excellent chapter house at Lincoln is a large polygonal chamber with a single central pier supporting the vault. Around the walls are a series of arcaded niches and a stone bench for the clerics. A specifically English structure, the chapter house never appears in France.

La casa capitolare, dopo la stessa cattedrale, è la costruzione più ambiziosa del complesso della cattedrale. Essendo il luogo dove erano trattati tutti gli affari importanti è contemporaneamente grandiosa e pratica. L'eccellente Casa Capitolare di Lincoln è una grande camera poligonale con un unico pilastro che sostiene la volta. Attorno ai muri ci sono una serie di nicchie ad arco e panche per i monaci. Una specifica struttura inglese, la Casa Capitolare non compare mai in Francia.
