This building is now the Bank of
Ireland. It was begun in 1729 and it is regarded as one of the finest specimens of 18th
century architecture. The receding front has finely grouped Ionic columns, the eastern
portico, of the Corinthian order, was erected in 1785. The western portico and screen wall
were added between 1792 and 1794 The Bank of Ireland took over the building in 1804. |
