The Cross of the Scriptures (or King Flann's Cross), which stood in front of the Cathedral's west door, was erected by Abbot Colman over the grave of King Flann Sinna (died 914 A.D.). This magnificent high cross carries a wealth of illustrative and ornamental carving on both faces and sides, as well as two inscriptions in Irish.
