Standing on high ground at the western end of Lord Edward Street, this is one of the city finest historic buildings. The original eleventh-century structure was replaced by the great new cathedral founded by Strongbow in 1172, which took fifty years to be built. Most of the present structure dates from the nineteenth-century restoration by George Edmund Street, but the transepts and some other parts of Strongbows church remain. | |||||
